Twelve people were hospitalized in Turakurgan district of Namangan province between December 29-31 as a result of alcohol poisoning, the General Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. Two people died, despite the efforts of doctors.

“Tashkent responded to Dushanbe's request and now will build a distribution center for COVID-19 patients,” the Tajik news publication Asia-Plus said in a statement.

Uzbekistan plans to launch new crossover models. The project will be implemented as part of the investment program for 2021-2023. Earlier on December 28 of this year, the President approved the investment program for 2021-2023.

On December 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the Uzbekistan’s 2021 state budget law. According to the decree, from February 1, 2021, the salaries of employees of budget-financed institutions and organizations, as well as scholarships, will increase by 10%.

Two modular hospitals with 176 and 24 beds, respectively, have opened in Bishkek and the Chui province of Kyrgyzstan. The projects were completed in less than a month and were fully funded by Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health said.

The Cabinet of Ministers’ December 29 issued resolution on switch-over of Uzavtosanoat to the production of electric vehicles only. Until February 1, 2021, the company was instructed to engage foreign experts and consulting companies and develop a draft concept.

Tashkent’s traffic police officers have been serving in a new uniform since December 29, the Interior Ministry said. The uniform is designed for the cold season and is water-proof. Lighter color and reflective elements make officers highly visible at any time of the day.
