President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the opening ceremony of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat on Sunday, UzA reported.
The Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat brought together the leaders of several countries, the top officials of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), honorary guests and thousands of sports fans.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov officially declared the Asian Games open. The OCA President Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah congratulated everyone on the beginning of the 5th Asian Games.
At the Games came together over 6 thousand from more than 60 countries. The Uzbekistan delegation includes 189 athletes in 20 sports. Ulugbek Alimov silver medal winner of the World Weightlifting Championship was Uzbekistan’s national flag bearer.
In Ashgabat, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
