Uzbekistan lost to South Korea, 1-2 in matchday 5 of the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup 2018 at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
However it was Uzbekistan who opened the score against run of play 25 minutes into the game through Marat Bikmaev's long range shot. South Korea managed to equalize in the 67th minute after Nam Tae-hee’s header, and 5 minutes to the end Koo Ja-Cheol’s fine shot ensured a precious win for the home side.
This loss narrows Uzbekistan’s chances for one of the automatic berths to the World Cup. As it stands Uzbekistan is third with 9 points, behind South Korea (10) and Iran (10) who will face Syria this evening.
