The earthquake in Afghanistan that struck the Herat region killed more than 2,000 people. We, in Uzbekistan, received with great grief the news of the death of a large number of people and large-scale destruction after the earthquake in the western provinces of Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
We express our sincere condolences to the families of the earthquake victims, share the grief of the Afghan people and wish a swift recovery to all those affected.
Uzbekistan stands in solidarity with Afghanistan and its people in these difficult times, the statement added.
