The next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Ministerial Council) will be held in Moscow on April 5, the CIS Executive Committee reported.
The draft agenda of the meeting was formed at a meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiaries to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth in January and was approved by the Chairman of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. It includes 10 items.
Also, traditional exchange of views on international and the Commonwealth-related issues is scheduled to take place. In addition, the ministers will discuss the draft statement of the CIS heads of state on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the WWII and the issues of enhancing the partnership between the foreign affairs agencies of the CIS countries.
The minister are to review issues relating to the need to preserve and properly care for military graves and monuments of the WWII, (with the relevant statement by the foreign ministers expected to be signed) and to coordinate intergovernmental relations in the field of basic research in a broad format.
The remaining documents are to signed without discussion. They are fully agreed upon in advance and concern the deepening of the contacts of the CIS countries in the field of culture, education and the fight against crime.
