Starting July 23, Russia will restrict imports of regulated agricultural products from five Uzbek exporters, the Russia’s federal veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
The restrictions will target suppliers with the highest number of phytosanitary violations. These exporters primarily ship green cabbage, cauliflower, onions, dill, parsley, grapes, beets, tomatoes, and other fresh produce.
The agency explained that the decision follows a rising number of quarantine pests and pathogens detected in shipments arriving from Uzbekistan to Russia.
Since the beginning of 2026, Russian authorities have recorded 132 such cases. The detected threats include tomato brown rugose fruit virus, South American tomato pinworm, western flower thrips, and beet necrotic yellow vein virus.
Rosselkhoznadzor stated that these systematic violations point to a lack of effective safety and quality controls for regulated goods being exported to the Russian market.
