A swimmer drowned in the Bozsu Canal in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent, the capital's Department of Emergency Situations. The tragedy occurred in the afternoon of July 21.
Rescue workers and divers were deployed for a search operation that lasted four hours. The body was found 100 meters away from where the individual had gone under.
Just a day earlier, it was reported that three young girls drowned while swimming in an artificial reservoir on a farm in the Jizzakh province.
