The Tashkent Metro set a new ridership record on September 21. A total of 1,181,581 passengers used the metro that day, the metro's press service reported. The previous record had been set on September 14, 2026, when 1,165,550 passengers rode the system—meaning the new figure surpasses it by 16,031 passengers.
Monitoring and analysis by transit officials show that ridership continues on an upward trend. Based on current figures, daily passenger numbers on the metro are expected to reach 1.2 million by October.
In light of this, the Tashkent Metro plans to identify its 1.2 millionth passenger and present them with a special perk or gift.
The milestone follows a similar record set on September 15, when Tashkent's city bus network carried 1,520,113 passengers in a single day.
