India's Hyderabad police on Thursday rescued six Uzbek women from an alleged brothel and arrested two persons for allegedly running the illegal operation from a hotel.

Acting on a tip-off, police, along with officials of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, raided the hotel and rescued the six women from Uzbekistan.

Police arrested Rammohan Reddy and Nikhil, who allegedly operated the illegal business by taking rooms at the hotel and luring customers.

Police found that the women had been brought to the city for a nominal payment and that the organisers allegedly lured customers from different states. The passports and visas of the rescued women were verified and found to be valid. They had entered the city on tourist visas.

Based on the statements of the foreign nationals, police registered cases under relevant provisions relating to human trafficking and launched a further investigation.
