Uzbekistan imported 18,900 tonnes of mutton worth $43.8 million in January-July 2026, up 37.7% from the same period last year, with Kazakhstan the largest supplier.

According to the National Statistics Committee, imports over the seven months rose by 5,200 tonnes from the same period in 2025, a roughly 1.4-fold increase.

Kazakhstan accounted for most of the supply, at 16,900 tonnes, or nearly 90% of total reported imports.

Imports by country of origin were:

  • Kazakhstan: 16,900 tonnes
  • Mongolia: 891.3 tonnes
  • Russia: 635.7 tonnes
  • Other countries: 517.2 tonnes

Mongolia and Russia ranked second and third behind Kazakhstan by volume.

The 37.7% growth refers to import volume in tonnes. The committee did not say how the value of imports changed from last year.
