550 thousand tons of cotton fiber was sold following the XII International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair in Tashkent.
According to the statement of the Directorate (managing body) of the Fair, the value of textile export contracts this year has exceeded $ 1.3 billion, bound for the CIS and the EU, Turkey, Singapore. Last year, contracts for the sale of 700 thousand tons of cotton fiber and textile products worth over $ 800 million were signed.
With 3.5 million tons of raw cotton grown, and 1.1 mln tons of cotton fiber produced annually Uzbekistan ranks sixth in the world in terms of cotton production and is the fifth largest exporter.
The 12-edition of the International Cotton and Textile Fair was attended by over 1500 delegates from 44 countries.
