President Mirziyoyev signed the Privatization Program for 2025 Decree announcing a standstill for starting enterprises with government’s stake in Uzbekistan.
The standstill will be in effect until January 1, 2030. The main privatization targets in 2025 will be:
- sale of state-owned assets and land plots worth total of 30 trillion soums to make proceeds of at least 10 trillion soums;
- sale of government stakes in 115 companies, 659 real estate and 6.1 thousand hectares of land plots owned by the state;
- at least 30 mineral deposits at the initial stage and sale of the right to use the plots.
State-owned assets with an area of up to 10 thousand sqm will be given free of charge to businesses manufacturing high-tech products for 5 years. Should agreement terms be met, land plots will be sold to these entrepreneurs directly at the estimated cost.
Real estate objects that have not been sold for more than a year and are unattractive to buyers even after a gradual reduction in the initial price shall be added as a share in other legal entities. The requirement for the mandatory participation of local government bodies in markets and shopping malls has also been cancelled.
