Uzbekistan’s international trade reached $41 billion in value during the first half of 2026, marking a $2.8 billion (7.4%) increase compared to the same period in 2025, the Statistics Agency said in a report.
The country's semi-annual export earnings stood at $15.9 billion—a decline of 8.8%—while import spending surged by 21% to hit $25.1 billion. This divergence resulted in a foreign trade deficit of $9.3 billion.
"Excluding gold, goods exports grew by 28.7% year-on-year, totaling $8.2 billion," the Statistics Agency noted.
China Remains the Largest Partner
China secured the largest share of Uzbekistan's trade over the six-month period, accounting for $9.5 billion. The remaining top trading partners include:
- Russia — $7 billion
- Kazakhstān — $2.8 billion
- Turkey — $1.4 billion
- Afghanistan — $1.1 billion
Notably, the two-way trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan has more than doubled in a short period. Bilateral trade valued at $458 million during January–June 2024 has now skyrocketed past the billion-dollar mark.
