The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is considering US$ 2 billion worth of about 70 projects, said Amangeldy Isenov, deputy chairman of the bank.
He stressed that it is still difficult to say which of these projects will be shortlısted and what will be the participation of the bank in their financing. The main part of the projects falls on the EDBis two founders - Russia and Kazakhstan.
The EDB is also considering the possibility of financing projects in countries that are not its members, in particular, in Uzbekistan. “This involves a somewhat different procedure, but in principle this issue is being considered,” said Isenov. According to him, we are talking about three to five projects wıth Russian investments in Uzbekistan.
He added that the issue of Uzbekistan’s membership in the EDB is also being discussed, but this is a fairly lengthy process, requiring a number of internal procedures in the member countries.
