Many accords were signed during the official visit of Shavkat Mirziyoev to Japan. In particular, Japan will provide 346 million yen (US$ 3.2 million) in a grant to improve the quality of life of households in the Aral Sea region.

At a press briefing, the Japanese Prime Ministerm Shinzo Abe said:

“The Japanese government understands the difficult environmental situation in the Aral Sea region and wants to contribute to improve the lives of its people”.

It was noted during the meetings that this aid would be in line with the goals of the Multilateral Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region, established by the government of Uzbekistan under the auspices of the UN.
