The Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy jointly with the World Bank (WB) have announced a call for bids for the construction of two PV stations with a capacity of 200 MW each in Samarkand and Jizzakh provinces.

In May 2018, Uzbekistan authorities signed the Consulting Services Agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to attract private investors to finance, design, build and operate photovoltaic plants worth up to US$ 1 billion. The pilot draft of the agreement is the construction of a solar power station with a capacity of 100 MW in the Navoi province. In November 2019, the tender for its construction was won by Masdar from the UAE.

As a result of the new call for bids, one or two winners or a consortium will be selected for the construction of two stations under the public-private partnership (PPP) terms for a period of 25 years.

In Phase I of the call for bids, pre-qualification of its bidders was announced until March 21. In Phase II, the dates of which will be announced later, the shortlisted bidders will have to rresent their technical and financial proposals. The tender consultant is IFC.

In early February, the Ministry of Energy announced a tender for the construction of a photovoltaic station with a capacity of up to 200 MW in Surkhandarya province under PPP terms. The US$ 800 million project is being implemented as part of a program with the Asian Development Bank, signed in August 2019.
