A copy of the letter from the director of the Samarkand Provincial Children's Multidisciplinary Medical Center M. Azizov to the head of the Provinceal Health Department Davronbek Zhumaniyozov surfaced on social networks, which refers to the complications and death of patients who took Doc-1 Max tablets and syrup.
In a letter dated Dec. 15, he writes that in recent months, respiratory viral infections had been spreading in the province, especially children, and primary health care doctors would prescribe the drug "Doc-1 Max" on numerous occasions, sometimes the parents of children themselves would use it. The active ingredients of the drug: paracetamol, guaifenesin and phenylephrine hydrochloride.
“After using the drug “Doc-1 Max”, in a large number of cases, we have received complaints about side effects. Children show mostly signs of damage and kidney failure,” the letter says.
It says that in the past two months, 21 patients have been admitted with complaints of complications. They mainly had anuria - the absence of urine flow into the bladder.
“In 17 children, the disease was extremely difficult, they even had to undergo several sessions of hemodialysis. There were 15 deaths,” the letter says.
On December 22, the Ministry of Health, citing the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, announced the formation of an operational group of specialists to investigate the situation and find out the causes of complications in patients.
An examination of tablets and syrup with lemon and honey flavor "Doc-1 Max" produced by the Indian company Marion Biotech, purchased in pharmacies in Samarkand, has begun. The results of the examination will be announced.
Since December 22, the sale of this drug throughout Uzbekistan has been temporarily suspended. The distributor of the drug Quramax Medical notified the organizations to which the drug was sold about this.
