The articles of the Constitution will be raised from the current 128 to 155, and its provisions from 275 to 434, with conceptual changes being made to 91 out of 128 articles.
This was announced by MP Jahongir Shirinov at the plenary session of the Legislative Chamber.
“As a result, our Constitution is being completely updated both in substance and form. We all know that if a significant change in the text of the current regulation is required, it is necessary to re-edit it in a new edition. Therefore, based on the political significance and scope of the amendments and addenda made, there are sufficient grounds for presenting the Constitution in a new edition in the draft under consideration.
That is why the draft is proposed to be called “The Constitutional Bill of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, and not “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution”.
In turn, the structure of the draft is being revised, and new articles introduced into the Constitution are assigned independent numbering,” Shirinov said.
