A directive letter to the heads of provincial health departments and the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service on the temporary suspension of vaccination with the second and third doses of the Chinese-Uzbek vaccine ZF-UZ-VAC-2001 in Uzbekistan surfaced on social networks.
It states that from August 9, it is necessary to use the reserves of the ZF-UZ-VAC-2001 vaccine for inoculation with the first dose only. Vaccination with the second and third doses was ordered to be suspended for a week "until further notice."
Dilorom Tursunova commented that Uzbekistan received vaccines from different manufacturers, therefore, it is required to carry out calculations and enter data into the system (emlash.uz), as well as to streamline the list of persons who should receive the second and third doses of the vaccine.
“We gave a period of one week, asking for the first dose to be vaccinated for now. Because in the analysis we saw that the number of those vaccinated with the first dose is three times more than those vaccinated with the second dose. We need to clarify all the numbers. At the same time, we gave such an instruction to properly plan the vaccination process,” she added.
As of August 8, more than 10 million doses of vaccines have been used in Uzbekistan. The first dose was received by 6.8 million people, the second - 2.3 million, the third - 887.9 thousand. Over 1.3 million people have received the full course of vaccinations.
As of August 6, the total vaccine reserve in Uzbekistan reached 14.58 million doses. In total, the country has received 10.5 million doses of ZF-UZ-VAC2001 so far. In addition, 3 million doses of Moderna, 710 thousand doses of AstraZeneca and 370 thousand doses of Sputnik V were received.
