The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan released a statement regarding social media posts referring some Afghan media outlets about an alleged skirmish on the Uzbek-Afghan border on the night of May 4, which allegedly resulted in the death of an Uzbek border guard.
“We declare that the disseminated information is not true. The situation at the border is calm, the protection of the southern borders is carried out in a normal regimen,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The official representative of the caretaker government of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid, also denied the publications that appeared on various Internet sites, calling them fake and unfounded, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
