Uzbekistan delegation attended the 66th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dunyo said. Reportedly, on the sidelines of the conference, the director general of Uzatom Agency Jurabek Mirzamahmudov met with the general director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.
At the meeting, Rafael Grossi noted that he had good information about the mutual cooperation of IAEA departments with Uzbek organizations. He informed that the agency was ready to provide comprehensive support to Uzbekistan in the development of nuclear infrastructure and introduction of nuclear technologies to various sectors of the national economy.
Rafael Grossi, with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank, touched on the issue of equipping the Uzbek specialized oncology and radiology scientific-practical medical center with modern equipment. He emphasized that this project was under his personal attention and control.
He said the agency could take over coordinating and overseeing the procurement of equipment and that at the moment, the agency was establishing strategic cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of training of medical specialists in the use and maintenance of special equipment used in nuclear medicine.
