At the extraordinary session of the municipal deputies council on Sunday Nematulla Matkarimovich Khudaibergenov has been confirmed as the new mayor of Turtkul ditrict of Karakalpakstan.

A two-day workshop on basic principles of the International Water Law and mechanisms of the international cooperation on use of transboundary water resources takes place in Tashkent.

Monitors from the International Labour Organization (ILO) have found that "the systematic use of child labour in Uzbekistan’s cotton harvest has come to an end over the past few years and that concrete measures to completely end the use of forced labour are being implemented."

Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), Jahon said. Murotjon Azimov, First deputy prosecutor general of Uzbekistan signed the MoU on behalf of the Office as part of the US visit on December 4.

Uzbekistan delegation led by the Senate Chairman, Nigmatilla Yuldashev will attend the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation which will be held today in Istanbul, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov yesterday hosted Pavol Ivan, who is completing his tenure as Ambassador of Slovakia to Uzbekistan, the ministry said in a statement.

Uzbek Foreign Minister delegation led by Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov yesterday met with the Turkmen Deputy PM/ Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov in Ashgabat, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan  Monday, the Uzbek Presidency website said.

The Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order approving the opening of a consulate general of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
