The World Bank, in partnership with the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), the Kazakh-German University (DKU) and Plug and Play (P&P), is calling for proposals from innovators around the world to participate in the Global Disruptive Tech Challenge 2021: Restoring Landscapes in the Aral Sea Region. The project is supported by the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP) and will inform the World Bank Resilient Landscape Program in Central Asia (RESILAND CA +).

The Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the European Union’s (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for International Partnerships held the 16th EU-Central Asia ministerial meeting on 17 November 2020. The meeting exceptionally took place through video-conference, given the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The head of a farm in Aktobe province of Kazakhstan exploited a 58-year-old Uzbek national, Tengrinews.kz reports. “In the Aktobe province, the head of a farm, who had taken away documents and threatened with physical violence, and subjected a 58-year-old Uzbekistan national to labor exploitation for one year, was arrested ,” said Kamil Galiyev, a spokesman to the police department said at a briefing.
