A 38-year-old Uzbek woman, who was lodged in the Bhondsi jail, died due to a heart attack on Thursday. The women, identified as Shaknoz, complained of acute chest pain. She was rushed to the Civil Hospital where she later died.
A magisterial probe has been ordered into her death while the post-mortem examination suggested constant drug abuse and concurrent illness like epilepsy behind sudden stroke. “There was no injury but it appears that owing to drug abuse and some constant illness, she might have suffered stroke. Her samples have been sent to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) for further investigation,” Dr Deepak Mathur, a forensic expert at the Civil Hospital said.
Shaknoz was nabbed with another Uzbek woman on June 10 from a local club for violation of the Foreigners Act. They failed to produce passport or valid visa details. An FIR was registered against them Section 120-b (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and Sections 3 and 14 of the Foreigners Act. They were produced in a local court which sent them to judicial custody till June 22. While the police have informed the embassy, nobody from her family has got in touch to claim the body.
