U.S. Central Command is hosting the annual, multinational exercise Regional Cooperation 2018 at Camp Edwards on Joint Base Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Sept 10-21.

More than 200 participants from Afghanistan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and observers from Kazakhstan will focus on stability operations, border security, counter terrorism, counter narcotics, and counter proliferation during this exercise, U.S. CENTCOM said.

The multi-national team will develop a combined military response to several exercise scenarios to promote cooperation and interoperability, build functional capacity and enhance responsiveness between multi-national organizations. RC-18 includes support from the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

“This exercise provides our militaries the opportunity to work together, build trust and enhance our capabilities, while strengthening our partnerships,” said Lt. Col. Earl Brown, a U.S. CENTCOM spokesman.

This exercise series has been conducted annually since 2001; the last Regional Cooperation was hosted by Tajikistan July 10-23, 2017, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
