On January 24 the Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov, heading the government delegation on official visit in Kabul, held meetings with senior adviser to the President of Afghanistan on Economic Affairs, Humayun Kayumi and the special representative of the President on the development of cooperation with Central Asia and Russia, Muhammad Shakir Korgar.
Also on January 23-24 Kabul hosted the separate bilateral talks of the members of Uzbekistan delegation, representing various industries and economic entities with their Afghan counterparts, Uzbek MFA said.
During the visit, the sides have signed a trade and economic Road Map, which will allow the trade turnover to reach $1.5 billion in short time frames; Protocol of intent to enhance transport infrastructure projects, providing for the Uzbek side’s participation in joint rail and road projects; Protocol of intent to set up the Joint Security Commission; Memorandum of Understanding between foreign ministries; Agreement between the Interior Ministries on cooperation in combating illicit trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.
The Uzbek and Afghan business entities signed contracts for the supply of medicines and medical products, Ambulance cars, wheat, home appliances total worth over $ 49.3 million.
Also the opening ceremony of UzSanoatEksport trade house was held in Kabul. The trading house will host the permanent Made in Uzbekistan pavilion of Uzbek products.
