Shavkat Mirziyoyev offered his sincere condolences to the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos Calderón in connection with the large-scale natural disaster in the Putumayo province, which led to numerous victims and destruction.
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the Uzbek leader conveyed the words of sympathy and support to the Colombian people, and the families and friends of the victims and the injured.
Torrential rains which caused the rivers Mokoa, Sangoyako and Mulatos to overflow led to an avalanche of mud and water on the Colombian city of Mokoa. The disaster left 300 people dead, with the streets of the city filled with mud and huge rocks, and water, electricity and gas supply disrupted.
