The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov addressed Uzbekistan and Afghanistan's other neighbors. He said that Russia calls on the neighboring countries of Afghanistan to prevent the military presence of the U.S. and NATO forces on their territory. This was announced on October 27 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a video message to the participants in the ministerial meeting of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan (Iran, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan).
“Once again, we call on the neighboring countries of Afghanistan to prevent the military presence of the U.S. and NATO forces on their territory, which are planning to move there after leaving Afghan soil,” he said.
Lavrov said that the United States had always treated Afghanistan only as a tool for solving its geopolitical tasks.
“The persistent desire of the Westerners to reshape Afghanistan according to their own patterns has led to sad consequences: internal enmity and bloodshed, polarization of society, socio-economic collapse, humanitarian catastrophe. It contributed to the revelry of international terrorist groups, unprecedented in terms of drug production and corruption. Although who in the United States or other Western capitals cares about this? Afghanistan, which is thousands of kilometers away, has always been just a convenient tool for them to realize their selfish geopolitical tasks,” he said.
Lavrov pointed out that today Afghanistan is a country that actually has to start everything from scratch, build up from ruins - in the literal and figurative sense of the word.
“This is a natural disastrous result of two decades of imposing the US-NATO model of state building,” the minister concluded.
