The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent his condolences to the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev in connection with numerous deaths following a landslide that on April 29 hit in Uzgen district of Osh province, the President's press service reported.
"I ask you to accept sincere condolences and convey the words of sympathy and support to the people of Kyrgyzstan, as well as to the families and friends of the victims and the injured," the message said.
According to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations, a landslide that on Saturday morning hit Ayu village engulfed 7 houses, according to preliminary estimates 24 people died. One of the houses was empty.
Measures are being taken to evacuate 40 families from a potentially dangerous area. The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov visited the site of the tragedy. The President of Kyrgyzstan declared April 30 a day of mourning in the country.
