President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the leaders of a number of states on the sidelines of the Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on May 21, the Uzbekistan TV channel said.
In a brief encounter with King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the two leaders exchanged pleasenteries and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for the invitation to the summit and noted that he was glad to convey greetings and warm wishes from the birthplace of Imam Bukhari.
The King noted that Saudi Arabia is interested in furthering the relations with Uzbekistan, and wished peace and prosperity to the Uzbek people.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also had a brief meeting with US President Donald Trump, who expressed his opinion on the current reforms in Uzbekistan and highly commended them. The President of Uzbekistan stated that all opportunities will be used to raise the Uzbekistan-US ties to a new level and strengthen political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also met with Presidents of Azerbaijan - Ilham Aliyev, Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev, Tajikistan - Emomali Rahmon, Afghanistan - Ashraf Ghani, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and other summit attendees.
