Uzbek diplomats held talks with Shu Wengan, Head of the Mission for Immigration Affairs at the Representative Office of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region of China in Beijing.

The parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the consular and legal sphere, the Macao's migration regulations, as well as the prospects for the development of bilateral tourism exchanges in the framework of the Year of Uzbekistan Tourism in China, which was launched on December 3 of this year.

Also, during the negotiations, they touched upon the visa policies of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the protection of the rights of nationals of the parties, and the ways to expand the regulatory and legal framework between Uzbekistan and Macao.

In particular, the parties highlighted that Uzbekistan adopted a visa-free of up to 10 days for Chinese nationals as of March 1, 2021, including for the nationals of the special administrative regions of China, Hong Kong and Macao. The parties underscored that the Agreement On Reciprocal Visa Exemption between the governments of Uzbekistan and China was inked on December 1 of this year in Chengdu, and that the necessary internal legal procedures for the entry into force of this document are currently being carried out.

In this regard, the Uzbek officials noted Uzbekistan eyed to reach an agreement on reciprocal visa-free for its nationals with the Macao Special Administrative Region.

The Macao officials also noted its interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan in all areas, increasing practical effectiveness, in particular, expanding mutual national exchanges and consistently developing the tourism sector.

They agreed to collaborate to jointly resolve outstanding issues in the sector.
