China has proposed to create a $500 million investment fund for green projects in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Mining and Geology said.
The initiative was announced at the talks between the First Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology Omonullo Nasritdinhodjaev and officials of Chinese companies - members of the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan.
The Chinese partners also proposed to set up joint R&D, to form expert groups, harmonize environmental standards and to develop personnel training and green financing. The Uzbek minister voiced interest in the initiatives.
According to the National Statistics Committee, China continues to lead in the number of foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan. As of July 1, the country has registered more than 16.6 thousand enterprises with foreign capital – by 20% more than a year earlier.
