An audio recording has leaked on social media, purportedly featuring the mayor of the Muzrabot district, Abdulla Mamatqulov. In the recording, the individual identified as the mayor is heard insulting farmers using obscene language during a meeting and threatening them with legal retaliation through courts and prosecutor authorities.

The Anti-Corruption Agency provided an official comment on the matter. According to the agency, a formal submission has been filed with the Surkhandarya province governor’s office to launch an internal investigation into the audio leak. The directive mandates that the investigation's findings be reviewed by the Ethics Commission and that strict disciplinary actions be taken in accordance with the law.

In response, the Surkhandarya province governor’s office announced that a working group, composed of members from competent authorized agencies, has been formed to conduct a legal assessment of the incident.

This controversy follows a similar recent incident in Qarshi, where an investigation was launched into Nurbek Turdiev, the First Deputy Khokim, for forcing employees to work on weekends and exposing them to abusive treatment.
