The former chairman of Uzbekneftegaz, Bahodir Sidikov, and eight other individuals have been sent to trial. The defendants are accused of embezzlement through misappropriation or theft, abuse of power or official authority, and official forgery. Charges have been brought under multiple sections of Articles 167, 205, and 209 of the Criminal Code.
Among those standing trial are the General Director of Enter Engineering, Ulugbek Usmonov;, Director of Eriell Management, Nodirjon Boboev and the former deputy chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Bakhtiyor Anarkulov.
Earlier reports revealed that officials from the State Tax Committee and Uzbekneftegaz were suspected of embezzling 643 billion soums. According to investigators, the co-conspirators colluded to siphon off these funds from the state budget.
