Uzbekistan Airways will start operating once-a-week direct Tashkent-Kyiv charter flights as of October 5, 2019, with regular flights to be launched only next year, the First Deputy Investments Minister, the former Uzbekistan Ambassador to Ukraine Alisher Abdualiev said.
“This issue has long been on the table, by far I can confirm that the charter flights will resume from October 2019. The very last flight was operated on May 5, 2015. Previously, these issues were discussed between the aviation authorities of the two countries,” he said. He also expressed hope that from next year the countries, provided there is enough seat load, will resume regular flights.
Departure from Tashkent will be at 23:55 (Saturday), arrival in Kyiv- at 02:45 (Sunday). Travel time is 4 hours 50 minutes.
Departure from Kyiv will be at 04:15 (Sunday), arrival in Tashkent - at 10:45 (Sunday). Travel time is 4 hours 30 minutes.
Uzbekistan Airways cancelled the direct flights in 2014 in the wake of hostilities in Ukraine’s Donbass. To this date, Uzbeks have been travelling to Ukraine via Minsk, Istanbul, Astana, Almaty.
