President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a government meeting on the draft State Program - Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy Monday.
In recent years, the share of green energy has risen to 16% in Uzbekistan, while this year it is planned to raise this figure to 26%. To this end, the country will commission 16 solar and wind power plants with 3.5 GW in total capacity, 5 hydroelectric power plants with capacity of 160 MW and 1.8 GW energy storage capacities.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also instructed to develop more projects with total 1 GW capacity. As part of green initiative, this year, installing solar panels at state-owned enterprises and in homes will be continued.
A program will be developed to reduce costs by 15-20% through increasing energy efficiency in various industries. Energy audits and the introduction of energy-saving technologies are scheduled for 400 large enterprises.
123 million seedlings are planned to be planted in 2025 as part of the Yashil Makon (Green Space) program, which can be purchased through the Yashil Olam (Green World) platform.
