Timur Ishmetov has been appointed First Deputy Finance Minister, a source in the government told the Tashkent Times. Previously since 2017, he worked as the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank.
Timur Ishmetov, 40, graduated from the Finance and Credit Department of the Tashkent Institute of Finances in 2000, and holds graduate degree from the University of Birmingham in International Money and Banking (2005) and the Tashkent Law University (2007).
He began his career in 2000 as an economist at the Central Bank. Until April 2017, he held various positions, including heads at the Department of Monetary Operations, the Department of Management of International Reserves, the Department of Operations in the foreign exchange market and the Department of Currency Regulation and Control of the Central Bank.
Previous First Deputy Finance Minister Akhadbek Haydarov has become the chief of the Management of State-Owned Assets Agency.
