Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador Oleg Malginov, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“During the meeting, the Russia ambassador was told in a principle that in our country the statement of the co-chairman of the Just Russia - For Truth party, Zakhar Prilepin at a conference at the Russia Today’s press center with a proposal to annex the territory of Uzbekistan to Russia was received with deep concern,,” the message says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that such rash statements by party leaders of “friendly” country as the Russian Federation did not correspond to the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.

“Such statements, while being widely disseminated in the Russian media, are deliberately provocative in nature and can negatively affect the established historically friendly relations between our peoples,” the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

While, Oleg Malginov “with full responsibility” stated that Zakhar Prilepin’s statements even remotely had nothing to do with the official position of the leadership of the Russian Federation “regarding the friendly and independent Uzbekistan.”

The ambassador emphasized that “in his country the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Uzbekistan had never been questioned.”

Oleg Malginov also underscored that the Russian Foreign Ministry had plans to comment on this incident in the near future.

Zakhar Prilepin proposed annexing Uzbekistan and other territories of the former USSR to Russia.

“In fact, I also sincerely stand for the idea that these territories, from where migrant workers come to us, should simply be annexed entirely and taught the Russian language on the spot. In order not to teach here, but there, in Uzbekistan, for example. I’m serious, I’m not joking, I’m not playing the fool,” Prilepin said.

He also stated that he would continue to promote the theme of “disavowing documentation of the collapse of the Soviet Union.”

“This will allow us to say at any time: ‘Since two million of your citizens are on our territory, we claim your territory. Because the majority of you are here, they have already even voted for it.” Well, or some other form can be invented. After the parade in Kyiv, who will forbid us to do anything useful on the territory of Eurasian territory? Nobody,” the politician added.

Uzbek MPs asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send a note and warned about criminal liability for attacks on the constitutional system of Uzbekistan.
