The Tax Committee is working on creating a single database and IT system with full information of income of individuals, including income made overseas, the First deputy chairman of Tax Committee Mubin Mirzayev said at a press conference.

According to him, the department for taxation of individuals had already begun segmenting taxpayers.

“If Uzbekistan’s population stands at nearly 38 million people, then more than 18 million of them are required to pay personal income tax. We want to segment them by groups. We have drafted separate steps for collecting and paying taxes from those individuals who have the highest incomes. I think we will be able to form their complete database,” he said.

Mirzayev noted that a system was being created that would rule out the possibility of understating, concealing or changing income data.

“For this, we will need about a year to improve the IT system,” he elaborated.

In addition, the system will take into account citizens' income received abroad, taking into account the procedure for avoiding double taxation.

"If a resident of Uzbekistan receives income in another country, he is obliged to pay taxes in Uzbekistan. If this is a non-resident who has already paid taxes in another country, we will take this into account. That is, within the framework of the current legislation, we will establish a system of full taxation of individuals," Mirzaev emphasized.

However, according to Mirzaev, many individuals, including singers, either fail to declare whatsoever at all or fail to indicate all of their income in it. In such cases, tax authorities have the right, based on the available data, to assess and collect additional taxes.

"All information about the income of individuals is collected in the Tax Committee database. On its basis, calculations and collection of taxes from previously unpaid income will be made. This will take at least a year," he added.

Strengthening the procedure for mandatory declaration, as noted by the representative of the Tax Committee, is primarily planned for employees of state bodies, as well as individuals receiving additional income in addition to wages, Mirzaev summarized.
