Director of Iftikhor football club Ahror Ergashev and the coach Nodir Kuziboev are banned for life from all football-related activities, the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) said.
the club is currently is competing in Pro League (second division). After two losses and one drawe in the last three games, the club's management accused the defenders Tursunboy Khusanov and Hasanboy Ergashev intentionally threw away the games, and decided to take revenge by beating them.
According to the association, police opened a probe over the beating after the players called ambulance, who registered the injuries and reported this to the police.
One player had hematomas on his body and a crack on his leg. According to him, he was beaten with a stick, with both his legs now in plaster, the UFA added.
Iftikhor currently stands in the eighth place of the Pro League B and has only mathematical chance to qualify for the Super League. The club is partly funded by the Youth Movement, with reports that the movement will be ceasing funding should the beating be proven, the association said.
