On February 15, at the Uzbek Labor Ministry was held a meeting with a delegation of the International Labor Organization in the framework of the extension of the Decent Work Country Programme 2014-2016.

The meeting was attended by Special Advisor to the Director General of the International Labour Bureau (ILB) Kari Tapiola, Head of Europe and Central Asia on the activities of workers of the Bureau, Sergejus Glovackas, Chief Technical Advisor of the ILO monitoring project by a third party of child and forced labor during the cotton harvest, Steven MacLelland, chief technical Advisor of the ILO project "Implementation of the decent work country program in Uzbekistan", Anton Hausen and the representative of the World Bank, Oksana Lipcanu.

During the meeting, Mr. Tapiola noted that Uzbekistan has been step by step improving the working conditions, occupational health and safety and emphasized that child labor has been completely phased out in the country.

The guests noted that the Government of Uzbekistan and the social partners - the Federation Council of Trade Unions and the Chamber of Commerce, have been successful in the implementation of the country program.

At the meeting, the representatives of the ILO expressed readiness to extend the Memorandum on program of cooperation on decent work, within which the ILO is planning to hold a number of events, including seminars for the public employment services, consideration of proposals for cooperation with the Ministry for the implementation of comprehensive measures to fulfill the ratified Conventions and to further improve the activity of the State labor inspection.

In addition, during the meeting the sides discussed other aspects and prospects of cooperation between the ILO and the Uzbek Labor Ministry.

In conclusion, the parties have identified the main tasks for the implementation of the reached agreements, a statement of the Ministry of Labor said.
