Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 12 April 2017 signed amendments to Courts Law, Civil Procedural and Economic Procedural Code. The Legislative Chamber passed the law on 18 March 2017 and Senate approved it on 28 March 2017.
The law comes into force on 1 June 2017. The regulation on procedure of electing, appointment and terms of judges’ authorities comes into force from the date of its publication.
According to the law, the Supreme Court judges cannot be older than 70 and judges of other courts not older than 65.
The law also sets out the procedure of election of judges and abolishment of their authorities.
In addition the law envisages amendments to some legislative acts aimed at reforming Uzbekistan’s judicial system.
