President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday visited Chilonzar district, one of the "most complicated" districts of Tashkent city, where there is "a lot to work on", the Akhborot program of Uzbekistan channel reported.

The Head of state walked along the sidewalks and courtyards, talked to inhabitants of Yakkatut makhalla (neighbourhood) and visited one of the apartments, asking about the life and problems. Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to improve the territories of apartment houses, schools and kindergartens.

The President was briefed on standardized projects of makhalla centers, which will be built in the capital. There will be some 500 of them. As the deputy chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Construction, Asomiddin Tadiev said, three types of makhalla centers have been developed, each of which constitute a whole complex.

"Before, under makhalla center, one would understand that somewhere there is an official who issues some certificates," he said. Now there is a completely new approach: the mahalla center will become "the center of culture and education, a place where a person's life passes".

The President instructed to finalize and improve the projects. The makhalla centers, in addition to the premises for the chairman, his advisers and the preventive inspector, will now host libraries, places for sports, leisure activities for elder people, household services, bakeries.

"One of the main tasks is that mahallas should meet all the requirements in terms of functionally and security" the Head of state said. He noted that the inspectors of prevention  should live in makhallas where they work. All conditions must be created for them, they must undergo retraining.

"Local inspectors (police) must report before the people, live with common life, be aware of the problems of people. They should be a bridge between the people and the state," the President said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated the need to improve the system of private homeowners' partnerships, increase the efficiency of their work and the quality of public services. The main goal is to create maximum comfort for people.

"There are four district mayors present here, if they work under a completely new system, then in two years, people's mindset will change completely. But for this we must love our Tashkent, love our Motherland, Tashkent should become an exemplary city. And it will be wonderful if we start this from Chilanzar district," the President underscored.

Akhborot  afterwards showed the real situation in Chilanzar district. Viewers were shown houses in deplorable state, completely damaged roads, lack of sidewalks, long queues in polyclinics, where there are not enough doctors, garbage in front of a kindergarten, unheated school, unsanitary conditions in the markets, disorderly parking on the roads. In general, a picture familiar to residents of many districts of Tashkent, which, as the author of the story put it, "the responsible officials fail to notice".
