On April 20, the Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov met the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman headed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in bilateral negotiations, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides began with an exchange of congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Oman on April 22.
Both sides expressed interest in expanding ties in all possible areas and noted the existence of the untapped potential. These issues should be handled by the Embassy of Oman in Tashkent and the Embassy of Uzbekistan that is to open soon in Muscat.
The sides noted with satisfaction that the new building of the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, built with Oman’s financial and advisory assistance, is the symbol of fruitful bilateral cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian areas.
During the meeting, the topical aspects of international politics were also discussed.
On the same day, Tashkent hosted the fifth round of the Uzbek-Omani political consultations between Foreign Ministries, during which the key issues of the bilateral ties were discussed in detail and substantively given the parties’ intention to strengthen cooperation.
A special attention was paid to launching the mechanisms of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman transport corridor.
In the meetings was present the Ambassador of Oman, Muhammad bin Said bin Muhammad Al-Lawati.
