The Russian Federation will open consular offices in Aktau, Grodno, Cancun and Samarkand, said the director of the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ivan Volynkin, TASS reported.
“The consular department is actively working to expand our consular presence also by opening new consulates general, including in those regions where an increase in the tourist flow of Russian citizens is recorded. In addition, it is planned to open Russian consular offices in Aktau (Kazakhstan), Grodno (Belarus), Cancun (Mexico) and Samarkand (Uzbekistan)," he said.
Volynkin noted that at present "work is underway to radically increase the staff of Russian embassies in Asia, Africa, Latin America and, most importantly, in the CIS."
“Among the countries where this work is at a more advanced stage, one can name the Maldives, with which an appropriate intergovernmental agreement was entered into in 2021,” he concluded.
