Tashkent will host the 17th meeting of the secretaries of security councils of SCO member-states on August 19. This event is held within the framework of Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the SCO, and is a preparatory stage for the Council of Heads of State to be held in Samarkand.
Secretaries of the security councils of SCO member and observer states, as well as representatives of the SCO RATS secretariat and executive committee will attend the meeting.
The agenda will include the ways to ensure international and regional security, combating terrorism, extremism, illegal circulation of weapons and drugs, and ensuring information security will be considered.
Bilateral meetings with heads of delegations of partner countries are also planned as part of the event.
The meetings of the secretaries of the security councils of the SCO member states have been held since 2004 and are a coordinating and consultative mechanism of multilateral cooperation.
