On January 10 was held the general meeting of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, during which the Academician, Bekhzod Yuldashev was elected as Chairman of the Academy, a statement of the Academy said. The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, Abdulla Aripov.
Bekhzod Yuldashev (born in 1945) is the PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences. In 2000-2005, he already chaired the Academy of Sciences. He later worked as director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, and also served as member of the Senate.
Since March 2006, the academician Shavkat Salikhov, a PhD in biological sciences, had served as the Chairman of the Sciences Academy.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of mechanisms for implementing of research results into practice, and strengthening cooperation between research institutions, universities and various industries.
It was noted that the concept, aimed at the development of the Academy and industry related research, is being developed.
At the end of the meeting a plea to the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was adopted.
