President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 29 signed decree on creation of UzbekIpakSanoat association, which is intended to fundamentally improve the silkworm breeding industry in Uzbekistan.

On March 29, the Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov in Paris met with the Director General of MEDEF International, Philippe Gautier.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of his Navoi province trip visited the Navoi State Mining Institute on Tuesday. The Institute hosted the ceremony dedicated to the launch of construction of the 5th hydrometallurgical plant of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Complex at Auminza-Amantai gold-ore field, UzA reported.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the project of expanding of Navoi TPP. The construction of the second 450 MW capacity combined cycle plant will ensure the uninterrupted power supply to Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Complex, NavoiAzot and the consumers in the agricultural sector.

A new bridge over Amu-Bukhara canal was commissioned in Karaulbazar district of Bukhara province, UzA reported. The bridge is located on A-380 international route - Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beineu. Construction and assembly works totaling 11.8 billion soums have been completed in the framework of the project.

On March 23-25, the delegation of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry , as part of the Uzbek-Indian inter-ministerial consultations in Delhi, held meetings and talks with the Indian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mobashar Javad Akbar, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Rita Theotia, the President of the India-CIS Chamber of Commerce,  Rajan Madhu, the President of the Association of the Chambers of Commerce of India, Sandeep Jadjodia and the General Director of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of India, Ambika Sharma.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the talks in Astana with the Head of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev on Thursday noted that the relations between the two countries are at a new level, including in the international arena.

The mayors of Tashkent and Shanghai signed a memorandum of cooperation in Shanghai. The document foresees a number of measures aimed at expanding cooperation between the two cities for 2017-2019, Jahon news agency reported.

Uzbekistan intends to reduce imports by over $ 1.1 billion in 2017. The representatives of the Ministry of Economy at a press conference in Tashkent on Tuesday stated that this would be achieved through reorientation to local goods and boosting import-substitution.

Shayana Farm, a company with Indian capital, launches its subsidiary, Well Med Farm, which will produce medicines in Tashkent.

The high-speed rail link between Tashkent and Almaty will be launched on March 22. The first service from Almaty, operated by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (transl. Rail Way) company, will arrive in Tashkent at about 12:50, a source in KTZ representative office said. The travel will take 16 hours.

The delegation of the Samarkand province, headed by the governor Khimmat Okbutayev, is paying an official visit to Bashkortostan (Russia), BashInform news agency reported. The main purpose of the visit is to expand trade and economic cooperation with Bashkortostan and increase the trade turnover, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Ufa, Venier Galiakbarov said.

In 2017-2019 General Electric (GE) plans to implement 13 projects in Uzbekistan totaling US $388 million, comprising projects  for manufacture of a wide range of industrial equipment and home appliances.

The Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry is considering the issue of holding Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan business forum in Astana in March 2017, on the eve of the upcoming state visit of the Uzbek President to Kazakhstan.

The khokim (governor) of Tashkent province, Shukurullo Babayev departed for St. Petersburg to participate in the St. Petersburg Partnership of Small and Medium Business. On Monday Babayev met with the governor of St. Petersburg, Georgiy Poltavchenko.

A delegation of businesses and farmers of Namangan province visited Italy, Jahon News agency reported. During the visit, the delegation familiarized with the experience of the Italian partners.

The governor of Samarkand province, Himmat Okbutayev on March 12 departed on a working visit to Tatarstan (Russia). At Kazan international airport he was recived by the Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Ildar Khalikov, a statement of Tatarstan government said.

According to the Presidential Decree "On Uzbekistan’s Investment Program for 2017”, Uzbekistan is to complete 168 projects worth US$ 2.534 billion in 2017.

Uzbekistan announces it will disburse US$4.505 billion of foreign investments as part of the investment programme for 2017.

On March 1, 2017 the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Vice-President of General Electric and the President of GE for CIS, Ronald James Pollett, UzA said.
