A new polyethylene wallpaper production unit has been launched at Fargonaazot. Winchemical, a Uzbek-Korean joint venture will produce annually up to 7.8 million units per year. The total project cost is 3.1 million dollars.
Its founders are Winhousing International Co., Ltd (South Korea) with a 51% share and Fargonaazot JSC with a 49% share.
Currently, wallpapers in the Uzbekistan market are originated from Russia, Ukraine, China, EU and South Korea. Transportation and customs duties affect the final price, so local-made wallpapers that are much cheaper and of nearly the same quality could take a serious chunk of the domestic market, experts say.
