President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is visiting Karakalpakstan, on Friday took part in project commissioning and a launching ceremony for new projects, his press service said.

At the event in Nukus, $592 million worth of 11 projects were commissioned and 47 projects worth $7 billion were launched.

Among the commissioned projects:

1. Two wind farms with 300 MWt combined capacity and a 100 MWt storage facility, Karauzyak district.
2. $27 million, 100-bed Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, built in cooperation with UAE partners, Nukus.
3. The Karakalpak Scientific and Practical Medical Academy.
4. The first phase of a $150 million modular smart computing center run by Linkwise, Takhiatash district.
5. $20 million public transport project by Sapsan Trans Nokis, with 25 buses and electric buses delivered and 75 more electric buses due by the end of the year, Nukus.

The launched projects span energy, the digital economy, industry, transport, health care and services:

1. $2.6 billion, 1.5-gigawatt wind farm and its connection to the national grid, implemented with Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power, including 1,500 kilometers of high-voltage transmission lines, three new 500-kilovolt substations and the upgrade of two more, Kungrad district.
2. Biogas plant to produce 3 million cubic meters a year from licorice root, with Korean investors, the first of its kind in Karakalpakstan, Chimbay district.
3. $233 million project to build a 92-kilometer section of the A-380 Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beyneu highway, in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank.
4. Purchase of 112 electric buses and construction of a depot for public transport, with a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Nukus.
5. Digital currency mining and artificial intelligence data center projects with Chinese partners, worth a combined $2.281 billion, Kungrad and Takhiatash districts.
6. Data center, Takhtakupyr district.
7. Waste-to-energy plant, Nukus.
8. $20 million gold-mining project at the Zengibobo deposit, Karauzyak district.
9. $15 million mall, Amudarya district.
10. Medical sciences university and a hospital offering high-tech care, with Indian partners under a public-private partnership.
11. $103 million entertainment and shopping complex with leisure areas, with Turkish partners, modeled on Tashkent's Seoul Moon, on the bank of the Dustlik canal, Nukus.

Mirziyoyev thanked the business leaders and foreign partners involved in the projects. He also urged the public and academics to monitor the implementation of each project.

A presentation was also held for the New Uzbekistan housing development, planned in Nukus for young families. A 270-hectare site has been allocated, and design work has begun.

The development will include high-rise apartment buildings for 30,000 residents, along with business centers and retail, service and entertainment facilities.
